Angel discovers how hard it is being a new dad - especially when the demon underworld is after your newborn son. Will he be able to keep his son safe from the hordes of demons after his new born son?
Plot
Angel and the gang make it back to the hotel after a shopping trip to find the lobby all trashed and covered with blood. Lorne pops in right behind them needing a place to stay since his club was destroyed again. Angel won’t let anyone else hold the baby. Lorne notices a scratch on the kid’s cheek. Cordelia explains that it happened during the rush to get out of the alley. Angel won’t let Cordelia put ointment on it; he has to do it himself. The baby starts crying when he does. A demon suddenly pops in but Wesley and Gunn quickly kill it. Wesley points out that everyone and everything will be coming to get the baby and that they need to come up with what to do. Angel says that he thinks he has it figured out, but he is referring to why the baby is crying (he wet himself).
Angel is later changing the baby on Wesley’s desk. Wesley offers to help but Angel insists that he has it. The gang is working on making a list of everyone who could pose a threat to the baby’s survival. The baby starts crying again. Cordelia tries to feed it but Angel takes the bottle from her. The baby won’t drink. Angel won’t let Gunn help either when he offers. Angel says that they need to “erase” everyone on the list.
Elsewhere, Sahjhan berates Holtz for not killing Angel. Holtz says that he never told him that Darla was pregnant, and Sahjhan says it was because he was supposed to kill her before she gave birth. Sahjhan insists that Holtz get to “poofing” Angel. Holtz disagrees and says the first step is to get rid of the demon minions. The minions all start choking and die because Holtz had poisoned their drinks. He tells Sahjhan he doesn’t need mercenaries; he needs warriors that will die for his cause. He then tells Sahjhan he wants to search the obituaries.
Back at the hotel, Cordelia has found three websites that are offering money for the baby. Angel tells her and Fred to trace them. The baby still won’t drink from the bottle. Suddenly, a bright light flashes. Lorne explains that it was the Furies completing a spell that won’t let anyone or anything in or out of the hotel. There is an exit through the sewer that will only open with a password. Cordelia says that they need to get the baby to a doctor for his newborn checkpoint. Lorne says that he hears humming and asks if they have florescent lights, which they don’t. Angel asks Gunn to go get more firepower. Fred announces she is having trouble tracing the websites because the creators are using remailers. Angel is not pleased and when Wesley comes to her defense, Angel tells them all to work harder. Wesley looks a bit hurt/irritated.
At the same time, Linwood, Lilah, and Gunn are watching the scene from the offices of Wolfram & Hart. Lilah explains to Linwood how the baby wasn’t really born and that the prophecy was technically fulfilled. Linwood wants them to find out everything they can on Holtz (whose name they don’t know at the time). Linwood then does baby talk to Angel’s kid through his monitor in a really ridiculous scene that should have been left on the cutting room floor. Whoops, personal rant.
Anyway, back at the hotel Angel is trying to entertain the still crying baby. Lorne walks in while he is singing to the kid and joins in. Lorne then explains that the kid is probably crying because Angel is putting off some seriously tense vibes. He encourages Angel to look at the kid as more than just another mission. Angel finally calms the baby by showing him his vampire face.
Lilah heads down to the basement of Wolfram & Hart to files and records to get the file on Angel to find what she can on Holtz (whose name they still don’t know). The woman working there informs her that there are 35 cabinets full of Angel’s file.
Holtz appears to be stalking someone outside a building. He has the printed obituary of Julia Cooper in his hand. He confronts a drunken woman who looks just like Julia. She fights him for a bit but he overpowers her. He tells her that he knows what she is going through. He tells her that he knows her name is Justine and that a vampire killed her twin sister. He says he wants to help her. She tells him to stay away.
The next morning at the hotel, Fred still hasn’t traced the websites when Angel comes down the stairs. He still won’t hand the baby to Cordelia. She tells him that he needs to start sharing some responsibility. He says that he is the boy’s only family and it is now his job to be everything for him. Cordelia is not convinced and then leads Angel outside. He realizes he can’t go out in the sun and Cordelia tells him that there will be times when his son will have to go to the hospital during the daytime and Angel can’t go with him. She says that even if he could, he can’t do everything for the kid. He sticks his hand into the sunlight and tells Cordelia that even if it were noon on the sunniest day he would get the kid there.
As they go back into the hotel, Lorne comes downstairs and mentions that the only safe place for a guy like Angel is the janitor’s closet. Fred asks if Lorne was able to sleep through the humming and Lorne replies that he got earplugs. Gunn returns with the firepower Angel requested. He tells the gang that there are vampires waiting outside, as well as a biker gang and Lilliad demons. Wesley says that those demons might be able to take down the force field with their lunar powered magic when the night falls. Gunn says that they can’t stay there and fight the world, and Wesley replies that they really have no choice.
Back in the W&H basement, Lilah is fed up trying to find info in Angel’s file. She is thinking out loud, trying to remember Holtz’s name, when the file and records girl finishes her thought. It turns out that this girl has every file down there in her head. She tells Lilah all about Holtz and why he hates Angel.
That night, Justine is in a graveyard fighting a vampire. Holtz is watching from the sidelines. He dusts the vampire right before it bites her. He offers to teach Justine how to really fight. He tells her that he needs her help to kill a vampire. She gives him attitude but agrees to it.
At the hotel, the Lilliad demons start their spell to take down the force field. The vampires and the bikers start fighting over who gets to go into the hotel. Inside, Wesley tells them all they need to stand their ground. Angel says that it isn’t going to work and decides to flee with the boy. He tells the others to stay and try and stall his pursuers. Everyone is clearly very upset with the idea of him leaving the gang behind. It appears as if he is leaving them to die. Cordelia says, “You didn’t hear anything I said, did you?” Angel replies that he heard her and leaves out the sewer entrance. Fred makes one final plea for him not to leave but he doesn’t even look back.
Linwood, Lilah, and Gavin are all watching Angel sneak out on their spy cam. They send a unit to pursue Angel.
Angel is escaping through the sewers when the demons spell finally gets rid of the force field. The gang gets prepared for their approach. All of the baddies are fighting outside over who gets to go in. Angel escapes to his car with the kid and drives off, followed by the Wolfram & Hart team. When the baddies come in through the front door, Wesley toasts them with a flamethrower. Some of the bad guys outside notice that Angel is escaping and they start chasing his car as well.
Angel leads all of the pursuing bad guys to an abandoned mine. He gets out of his car and climbs down into it while the bad guys pause from chasing him to fight each other. The mob finally appears to have him trapped in the mine with the kid. However, he tosses them the baby, which is really a teddy bear with a bomb attached. He escapes up a rope while they are all scrambling for what they think is the kid. The bomb then blows all the baddies to bits.
Cordelia, Fred, and Wesley are all at the hospital with the real baby.
The Wolfram & Hart crew reviews the tape of when Lorne tipped Angel off through a note slipped into his jacket to the fact that cameras were set up in the hotel and how he told him to read it in the janitor’s closet. Linwood points out that the whole bit about him leaving the gang alone was just an act they all fell for, but at least his stunt thinned out the herd by killing all those other people who wanted the baby. Linwood then tells Lilah and Gavin they need more information on Holtz. Angel suddenly barges in and slashes Linwood across the face. He tells Linwood that he is going to hold him personally responsible for everything that happens to the baby, whether or not it is his fault. Anything that happens to the baby happens to him. He deems Linwood the baby’s godfather.
At the hospital, the doctor tells Wesley, Cordelia, and Fred that the baby is healthy. She asks for the child’s name and Angel pops in and says it is Connor. She congratulates “Mr. Angel” and the gang tells him his first name is Geraldo. Gunn shows up with a stroller. Fred asks if anyone else is coming after them or if they are safe. Angel says they are safe for now and then they all leave the hospital like one big happy family.
Dialogue

Not to mention some bastard blown a gaping hole in the lift.

Sorry. My bastard.

You don't have a woman's touch - whatever your taste in clothing may indicate.

Of course. And seeing as you once nearly had sex on my desk I shouldn't be surprised that now there is a baby on it.

Hey! First of all that wasn't me, that was some guy who switched bodies with me. And second of all can we keep the S E X talk away from the baby?

So, the baby's safe? We're all safe. Right, Lorne? I-I mean unless one of those killers decides to throw in a firebomb in at us like they did at your club, which had a similar safety spell around it as I recall. Sorry.
He doesn't like Smokey Robinson and the Miracles? I thought you said this kid had a soul.
I'm so glad somebody finally said that, because sitting here waiting to die never was much of a plan. Sorry.

What are you doing?

Trying to imagine myself as John Wayne in Rio Bravo. You?

Austin Stoker, Assault on Precinct Thirteen.

If we live through this, trade in your DVD Players and get a life.

We'll get through this, I promise. The vampire/demon/biker posse, that's the easy part. The part that scares me is all the questions. Why is the sky blue? Why do people get sick? Why is there always pigs' blood in the fridge? I don't have all the answers. Well, I do to that last one.
