Summary
As Cordelia and Angel continue the debate over whether or not to charge their clients, Doyle receives a vision of yet another woman in distress. Angel pays a visit to her workplace and learns that the woman is being terrorized by her neurosurgeon who is somehow mysteriously able to watch her every move. After some detective work, Angel and Cordelia discover that the doctor is able to disconnect appendages from his body in order to prey on his victims.
Plot
A young woman named Melissa is being stalked. The stalker is Ronald, her former doctor. He’s an optical surgeon who saved her eyesight. She felt indebted. They went out for a drink. He took this to mean they were engaged. The weird thing about this stalker is he seems to know what Melissa is doing every hour of the day (even in the bathroom). She initially turns down Angel’s offer of assistance. But after an encounter with Ronald, Melissa decides the situation is more than she can handle and enlists Angel’s help. Doyle signs on as her personal bodyguard during the day while Angel is left to ponder the question, how is this guy seeing her? Answer: Somehow, he’s “sending” his eyes to where Melissa is and watching her.Angel is still unsure of what he’s dealing with. He turns to Kate for some information on the not-so-good doctor. Kate assigns a police officer to guard Melissa’s apartment. She advises Angel that he needs to help his client overcome her feeling of being powerless or else even if they stop him, he’ll still win. Angel decides to pay a visit to Ronald’s office and finds a book entitled “Anything’s Possible”. Ronald catches Angel snooping around. Angel pretends that his wife is dying and he needs Ronald’s help to save her. Cordelia is doing some research of her own, interviewing Ronald’s fellow doctors. It turns out that Ronald pioneered work in reattaching body parts and fixing nerve damage. But no one in the medical community seems to know how he accomplished all of the radical surgeries that he claims to have done. Angel gets in contact with the author of “Anything’s Possible”. The author reveals that Ronald has mastered the art of manipulating cells with the power of his mind. He can send his body parts elsewhere and then reattach them to his body. Ronald is spying on Melissa as she sleeps and “sends” his hands to slide into bed with her. She awakes screaming and the police officer guarding her building breaks inside to help her. The disembodied hands attack him, strangling him to death. Angel arrives on the scene and Ronald discovers that Angel isn’t who he claimed to be. Angel and Doyle hypothesize that the only way to stop Ronald is to capture his disembodied parts and lock them away to prevent them from reattaching. They take Melissa back to their building and try to barricade themselves inside. Ronald calls Angel and says he can help his “wife”. When Angel arrives, Ronald reveals that he knows the truth. He shoots Angel with a fatal tranquilizer dose that paralyzes him and should stop his heart shortly. He manages to infiltrate the building and get to Melissa. But Melissa stands up for herself, telling Ronald what a vile, repulsive freak he is. He taunts her with having killed Angel. At which point, Angel arrives, still undead. They battle, Ronald flinging bits of himself at Angel. Angel manages to dismantle him enough to prevent his regeneration. Melissa thanks Angel for his services with more than words. She comes bearing a check. That’s right, a paying customer.
Dialogue

I know Angel's been working day and night to help people fight their personal demons. But I need a raise.

A raise? You've been working for him for, what, 20 minutes?

A month. And I have needs.

Needs?

A person... needs... certain... designer... things.

Personally, I don't think you need much in the way of clothes.

He likes playing the hero. Walking off into the dark, his long coat flowing behind him in that mysterious and attractive way.

Is this a private moment? Cuz I could leave you alone.

I'm not saying I'm attracted....

We're going to stand up to him.

We're standing up.

Just as soon as he's had his coffee.

What is this?

Last week's coffee. Think of it as... espresso!

I think my esophagus is melting.

I'm not comfortable asking people for money.

Then get over it!…I mean that in sensitive way.

Maybe I'm a little attracted.

Am I intimidating? I mean, do I put people off?

Well, as vampires go, you're pretty cuddly. Maybe you might want to think about mixing up the black-on-black look.

You're a lot smarter than you look. Of course, you look like a retard.

Angel Investigations. We help the hopeless.

She's coming in.

I gotta change my shirt.

We're gonna help you.

Big time. And for a reasonable fee!

Not everything has to be creepy and supernatural, you know.

Not everything, but Doyle had a vision.

Which last time led to a sex-changing, body-switching, tear-out-your-innards demon, right. I guess they don't call you for the everyday cases.

Okay, flesh. Anytime you want to stop crawling is okay with me.
So, judging by your uncomfortableness I would say you're either about to ask me out on a date or you need a favor.

Oh no, no. I've got the word jumble right here. It'll keep me occupied. Sadly, for most of the day.
Wolfram & Hart, you know the name?

I've heard it.
They're the law firm Johnny Cochran is too ethical to join.

What is stalking nowadays, like, the third most popular sport among men?

Fourth, after luge.

This guy has a lot to lose. What is it about Melissa that's got him going all O.J. here?

Ugh! What a fun date you must have been back in your Bad Vamp Days. On the other hand, it should give you some insight into the jerks of the world.

Did you steal this book?

Yeah.

Good.

You got any prints?

Yeah.

Good, so we can put him behind bars... for about 90 seconds, until he skitters through 'em. Not a lot of things make me shudder. But this guy? Crawling around under the covers? At least it was just his hands down there.... I wish I hadn't even thought that.

Whoa!

I was just trying to fix your collar.

What say we leave it crooked until this thing is resolved.

You don't have to be afraid.
You're just duct-taping me in for fun?

Steel boxes? Why would you want.... oh. For packing up people parts. You know, this job. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to have it, god knows it's educational and all, but sometimes....

What did you put in her tea?

Enough whiskey to drop my Aunt Judy. And that woman had some girth.

Either you like them, and they don't like you. Or you can't stand them, which just guarantees that they're going to hover around and never go away.

I hate guys like that.

It's just so unfair. I mean, this poor girl, she hooks up with a doctor. That should be a good thing. You should be able to call home and say "Mom, guess what? I met a doctor" not "Guess what I met a psycho who's stalking me, and oh, by the way, his hands and feet come off, and he's not even in the circus.

What if Angel doesn't come back?

Ah, he'll be back.

What if Dr. Chopped Salad shows up before he does?
Angel's right. You're weak.
I'm weak? Then how is it I killed him?

Inefficiently.
You can't be alive! You're not human!
You should talk.

Oh goody, recycled coffee. My personal favorite.

He's in 12 steel boxes buried in 20 cubic feet of concrete in L.A.'s newest subway stop.

That ought to bring in the tourists.
I brought this for you guys.
[hands Angel a plant]

Hope it doesn't need light.

See? You can save a damsel and make decent money. Is this a great country or what!?

Let's march down to the bank right now and deposit this beauty.

You guys go on. I think I'll stay here and not burst into flames.

Oh, right, you're pretty much the night deposit guy.

Well, still, cause to celebrate.

You think everything's a cause to celebrate.

We need more of these.

We'll have more soon enough.

Well, we need them now. Have a vision.

I just can't perform on demand.

We need the clients. Have a vision.

That money's corrupted you.

If I hit you in the head, will you have a vision?

Get away from me -- you're insane!
